The intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra iela will be adapted to the low floor tram parameters by SIA “Binders”
In the tender announced by “Rīgas satiksme” for construction works at the intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra iela, adapting it to the low floor tram parameters, the offer submitted by the Road Construction Company SIA “Binders” was recognised as the most economically advantageous.
The intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra iela will be reconstructed, including the installation of an automated switch control system, the adaptation of the tram catenary network structures, the implementation of rainwater drainage solutions in the track crossing area and the construction of a carriageway pavement suitable for the heavy traffic load. The adaptation of the tram infrastructure to the low floor tram parameters will improve the safety level in the track-switching area and shorten the crossing time. The construction works include the replacement of the existing manual switches with automatically controlled switches and the implementation of other measures to improve tram operation and track conditions.
Construction works are scheduled to start in January 2023.
The construction works at the intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra iela are co-financed by the European Union Cohesion Fund within the framework of Project No. 4.5.1.1/22/I/001 "Adaptation of Riga Tram Infrastructure to Low Floor Tram Parameters" (hereinafter–- the Project). In addition to the reconstruction of the intersection, the Project also plans to adapt the infrastructure of tram line Route No. 7 in the section from Centrāltirgus iela to the endpoint "Ķengarags" and the infrastructure of tram line Route No. 5 in the section from the intersection of Jūrmalas gatve and Slokas iela to the endpoint "Ilģuciems" to the low floor tram parameters. The Project also includes the renewal of four substations and the construction of one substation, all equipped with electrical equipment to ensure adequate power supply for the low floor tram operation. The total cost of the Project is estimated at EUR 55.2 million, while the Cohesion Fund co-financing amounts to 85% of the eligible costs, i.e. EUR 38.78 million.
Three offers were received for the construction works at the intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra iela, adapting it to the low floor tram parameters, of which the most economically advantageous offer was the one submitted by the Road Construction Company SIA “Binders”. The total amount of the contract awarded is EUR 2 055 619.01.
